Prof. Choi received his M.S. and Ph.D. from
University of Iowa in 1996 and 1999
respectively. He joined the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the
University of Colorado at Denver in 1999.
His research interests are in Computer Graphics,
Scientific Visualization and Human Computer Interaction with an emphasis on
physically-based modeling and simulation for medical and bioinformatics applications.
Currently he is the Director of Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments
Laboratory and an Associate of the Center for Computational Biology.
He is a Core Program Faculty of
UCDHSC Bioinformatics.
He is also an Affiliated Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer
Engineering at University of Colorado at Boulder campus.
In 2003, he received the
NSF CAREER Award from National Science
Foundation. Recently he received
the 2006 Excellence in
Research and Creative Activities Award from the University of Colorado at Denver
and Health Sciences Center.
He also actively participates in student mentoring and advising through
Annual Research and Creative Activities Symposium. (watch the
