TRIO PROGRAMS
Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement
Program (McN)
Ronald E. McNair was one of the first black astronauts
at NASA. His remarkable life ended in the Challenger
explosion in 1986. Despite growing up in a poor, segregated
neighborhood in South Carolina, he obtained his Ph.D.

and unshakable will are guiding values for the McNair
Program.
