About the Club
:

PLaCES is a multidisciplinary group of CU Denver students, both undergraduate and graduate, collaborating with CU Denver faculty and local professional engineers to design, build, and implement sustainable development projects worldwide.

Our current project is in India. We will be providing electricity for home lighting in this village. Notice the village has many distributed hamlets, requiring the design and implementation of several different sustainable energy systems.

Mission:

1) Partner with communities in sustainable development efforts that enhance the well-being of people and the planet.

2) Learn simple living and holistic thinking through cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary dialogue.

3) Together, create innovative local solutions to meet the global challenge of resource depletion and pollution.

These are the three key aspects of our sustainable energy system design. From left to right: The home-scale Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, the village-scale Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine, and the hamlet-scale Vertical Axis Wind Turbine.
