Title: The diversity of life.

OBJECTIVES:

1. To understand the diversity of life and learn how to respect and defend it.
2. To stimulate the experimental work and scientific investigation.
3. To seek information, organize and reformulate it.
4. To promote the co-operative work.
5. To promote the interchange of information regarding the global knowledge.
6. To integrate the telecommunications in the classroom.

LEVEL OF TEACHING: Students involved in the project are in the 12th form of Natural-Scientific Area. Age: 17.
TARGET: The project can interest and be integrated in other levels of teaching, from the 7th to 12th forms. Ages: From 13 to 18.
SUBJECTS: Biology and Laboratory Technics of Biology are directly involved in the field work. We count on the knowledge of students who have been learning English for seven years and with the co-operation of some students' parents.
SUMMARY: We propose that, under the conditions settled by the project, the participant classes will realize a "Tide'', in a point of maritime coast with a rock literal type, near the participant school.

STAGES OF THE PROJECT:
1. Participants will choose a place in the coast near their schools, and a date, to realize the tide in good conditions.
2. Participants will gather data in the beaches, according to conditions of Form 1.
3. Filling in the Form 1.
4. Sending Form 1 to the promoting school by email or by post.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: We accept the participation of schools from all continents.

CHRONOGRAM:
1. Registration of the participant schools: until 31.March.97.
2. Realization of tides: during April.97.

3. Collecting the participant's data: until l5.May.97.
4. Data treatment in the promoting school: during May.97.
5. Publishing conclusions, photos, etc in WWW: until l5.June.97.

INTERNET SERVICES: WWW and Email. Forms and photos can be sent also by normal post. Participant teachers and students are invited to email us with their suggestions, questions, etc.
