Net Survival Kit: Tutorials, Hoaxes, Netiquette & other helpful info

Tutorials, General information

Scams & Hoaxes

If you're becoming Net-savvy, you've either run into these or soon will. Don't be caught passing them on -- the chain-letter versions will get you kicked off most discussion lists (a word to the wise). Here's a quote from one of the lists I'm on:

"Another ironic twist is the availability of web sites devoted to listing and debunking rumors. Examples include the Computer Virus Myth home page and Don't Spread That Hoax! sites, which provide details about common net hoaxes. You probably know the stories about the $250 cookies recipe, the Good Times virus, and Microsoft buying the Vatican (wait -- is that last one *really* not true?). These and a legion of other bogus stories are laid out in their weird glory."
