Description: The course will compare philosophical views of nature in terms of their implications for human ecology. Varied meanings of nature expressed in science, art, religion, and metaphysics will be examined in relation to environmental development, animal rights, synthetic landscapes, wilderness preservation, population, pollution, and the limits of holism as a movement to save the earth.
