- IT 5020, 3 hours -- Collection Development
- Principles and practices for developing information collections
to meet user needs. Includes selection, evaluation, and policy and
procedure development for all materials including print, electronic
technologies and multimedia.
IT 5030, 3 hours -- Information Literacy and Reference
- Teaching, assessment, and integration of information literacy skills
with subject content areas. Reference collection development, policies
and procedures, and use of reference tools including electronic resources.
IT 5040, 3 hours -- Information Storage and Utilization
- Principles and practices of utilizing standard methods for organizing,
accessing, and storing information. Includes cataloging and classification
in text-based and electronic systems.
IT 5110, 3 hours -- Instructional Design and Production
- Analyze instructional development process in educational and business
settings. Emphasis on creating instructional designs and developing
quality products with graphic and audio components.
IT 5160, 3 hours --Managing Information and Learning
Technology Programs
- Problems in the organization and administration of information learning
and technology programs and projects. Students examine topics, including
project management, personnel administration, budget development,
and management philosophies.
IT 5310, 3 hours -- Producing Elementary Materials
- Design and production of materials such as videos, slides, and photo
essays to support learning goals.
- IT 5710, 3 hours -- Technologies and Networking
for Learning
- This course is a nuts-and-bolts introduction to basic learning
technologies. Topics include: hardware components and troubleshooting;
operating systems; presentation tools; communication tools; data-manipulation
tools; principles for the use of learning technologies to address
different learning needs.

Media: Elementary
- Provide practical experience in the management of a library media
program. Includes 80 hours in an elementary school setting.

- Provide practical experience in the management of a library media
program. Includes 80 hours in an secondary school setting.

- Explore different instructional methods that work when preparing
instructional programs for trainers.

Activities
- Attend professional conferences to meet leaders in the field of
Information and Learning Technologies and to expand your understanding
of the field and its participants.
IT 6720, 3 hours -- Research in ILT
- .Analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of published research
in instructional technology. Emphasis on analytical and experimental
research. Development of a theory of instructional technology research.

- IT 6999, 3 hours -- Leadership and Practice
in ILT
- Reflective examination of the adoption and use of information and
learning technologies in applied settings. Topics include change strategies,
system analysis, planning and evaluating technology use, and roles
of technology specialists. Activities include preparation of professional
portfolios and site visitsto technology-using facilities. Course should
be taken during the last semester, or next-to- last semester, of course
work.

- Exploration of recent developments in cognition and the implications
for instructional practices. Includes theory and research in cognitive
psychology ad educational practices resulting from it.
IT 5600, 3 hours -- Multimedia Authoring Tools
- Learn to use authoring software to create instructional design products
including computer-based instruction (CBT), electronic performance
support system (EPSS), online instruction via the Internet, WWW, or
Intranet.

Tools
- Learn to use the programs that help you create instructional products.
Examples of the software that will be taught are Director, Authorware,
DreamWeaver, and Photoshop.
IT 5730, 3 hours -- Digital Video
- Learn the basics of creating digital video that can be used in computer-based
training and streaming video online applications.
IT 6740, 3 hours -- Learning Processes in IT
- This course serves as an introduction to principles of learning
and instruction. Included are topics in cognition, affect, motivation,
social learning, communities of practice, instructional-design theories,
instructional message design, and constructivist learning environments.

in IT
- Advanced seminar in instructional technology which examines the
current trends and issues in the practice of instructional technology.

- MGMT 6720, 3 hours -- Human Resources Management
- Training
- Focuses on the design and implementation of human resources management
systems to assess training needs, deliver training, and evaluate training
effectiveness. Areas of study include assessment of individual and
organizational needs, instructional approaches, and training evaluation.
Prereq - MGMT 6380.
MGMT 6730, 3 hours -- Human Resources Management - Performance Management
- Focuses on the design and implementation of human resources management
systems to assess and enhance employee performance. Areas of study
include performance measurement, rater training, goal setting,and
feedback. Prereq - MGMT 6380.
PSY 5640, 3 hours -- Training and Development
- Course will provide an applied systems perspective to designing,
conducting, and evaluating training programs in an organization. Topics
include - needs assessment, curriculum design, learning styles, and
evaluation. Prereq - admission to the psychology graduate program.
TC 5310, 3 hours -- Advanced Multimedia Authoring
- Builds upon the fundamentals of multimedia authoring and allows
the student to develop advanced skills and theory. Students will concentrate
on developing advanced multimedia applications for education or industry.
Prereq - TC 5300, previous multimedia experience, or consent of the
instructor.
MUME 5600, 3 hours -- Topics in Multimedia Technology
- Various topics which may be focused on primary technological trends
and innovations in multimedia. Prereq - approval by multimedia faculty.
