Requirements OverviewWhat are the Admission requirements?To be admitted, you will need a to fill out a Graduate Admission Packet, including a career plan and a $50.00 filing fee, provide two writing samples, and submit two copies of your transcripts. In some cases you may need to submit a GRE score. For more details, visit the Admission area. What happens after I'm admitted?You will be assigned an advisor. Together with your advisor, you will determine a timeline for completing your courses. How many classes will I take?The Library Media master's degree program consists of 36 semester credit hours. These credit hours are a combination of ILT core courses (12 semester hours), the Library Media endorsement core (14-19 semester hours), and elective courses. The endorsement program consists of at least 26 semester hours of course work from the ILT core (12 semester hours) and the Library Media endorsement core (14-19 semester hours). In addition, students will be required to take IT 5710: Telecommunications & Networking. Students are expected to do two weeks of field experience in the fall or spring semester at the end of their program. What is the portfolio?The portfolio is the capstone of your program, giving you the opportunity to clearly demonstrate your professional skills to the faculty and to future employers. While you work on the portfolio throughout your program, you will also benefit from peer and instructor review of your portfolio in IT 6999, Leadership and Practice. For more information, visit the Portfolio area. Completing a portfolio is a requirement of the Colorado Department of Education. How do I exit the program?In order to graduate, you must complete 36 credit hours, recieve a "pass" grade on your portfolio, and complete the necessary documentation. It is very important to be aware of the graduation reqirements, so visit the the Exit Requirements area to learn the specifics. Students should note that the Colorado Department of Education requires that students applying for Colorado Library Media Endorsement receive a passing grade on the PLACE exam.
