Joanna Wright is currently a Senior Instructor in Geology and Assistant Curator of the CU Denver Fossil Footprint collection.

Research Interests:
Locomotion and behaviour of extinct animals as determined from their tracks. Osteology and function of dinosaur and other tetrapod feet and hands. The correspondence between different paleosols and faunal distribution. Terrestrialisation of arthropods and tetrapods. Skin texture of early amniotes and its implications in terrestrialisation. Modes of trackway preservation. Palaeoecology of track assemblages.

Author of scientific papers and abstracts, and articles for a more general readership (somewhere here link to my publications list) on trace fossils, notably dinosaur and arthropod trackways. Dissertation focussed on the mechanics, taphonomy and paleoecological significance of terrestrial fossil trackways; main field sites were in southern England and the Connecticut Valley, USA. Also worked as the paleontological researcher for the BBC TV Walking with Dinosaurs, which uses the latest in computer animation technology.
