This year, in honor of CU-Denver's 25th Anniversary, my challenge is to match donations from faculty and staff who increase their annual gifts. All donations are deposited to a specific gift account in the unit, program or scholarship of the donor's choice. Paul Bartlett, dean emeritus of engineering, and Bill Murray, professor emeritus of information systems, have led the endeavor by recruiting a volunteer committee of faculty and staff from each school and college and the Auraria Library. In only four months, the qualifying gifts realized from the challenge have brought in over $42,000 in matches to programs throughout the campus. A generous gift from Clancy Herbst, a CU-Boulder graduate and member of the CU Foundation Board of Directors, made the chancellor's challenge possible. Vice Chancellor Midge Cozzens also committed additional funds to this year's challenge.
