DENVER - Yuk Lee, professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Colorado at Denver, has co-authored a paper, "Women With AIDS: Will It Change AIDS Service Organizations?"
The paper appeared in Vol. 27 of Policy Studies Journal. In this study, a number of AIDS service organizations and women clients were surveyed for the purpose of understanding the characteristics of these organizations, the services they provide and the nature of utilization by these clients.
With increasing numbers of poor, minority women with children now contracting HIV/AIDS, one conclusion drawn from this study is that these organizations have been slow in responding to the diverse needs of women, Lee said.
