Welcome to the Fall of 2000....

For new and returning students, the Sociology Department is trying to make your experience here as smooth and exciting as possible!  We cannot make this possible without the active involvement of our majors, minors and graduate students!  There are many ways that this can be accomplished.....

Get involved by joining the Students of Sociology Club.  The S.O.S. Club holds regular social meetings and study sessions. In addition, the club provides opportunities for and encourages students to submit papers to regional professional meetings such as the Pacific Sociological Association, the Midwest Sociological Society and the Western Social Science Association. Students are also encouraged to join and participate in the Society for Applied Sociology.

2001  Pacific Sociological Association meeting will be held in San Francisco, California on March 29 - April 1, 2001, go to  http://www.csus.edu/psa for more information.

CALL FOR PAPERS!  You are invited to submit papers to the "Technical Report Series" of the Sociology Department at UCD.  The Technical Report Series is a series of manuscripts created by sociologists of University of Colorado at Denver for the purpose of advancing the theory, research, and practice of all topics of sociological interest.  By providing opportunities to share your work with other faculty and students, we seek to encourage everyone to join in the collective development of our scholarly skill, academic interactions, and understanding of the social world.  Papers from all areas of sociology are welcomed.  Each report will consist of only one paper.  However, the more submissions we receive, the more frequently we will publish the reports.

This is a great chance to share your work with your colleagues.  Your work will definitely benefit from your colleague's feedback.  Also, this could be a preliminary step for submission to major academic journals.  Do not miss this opportunity!  We do not limit the type of papers.  Manuscripts can be derived from term papers, ongoing research notes, old manuscripts (dig up your files!), honors thesis, etc.

Submission is open to all faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate students of University of Colorado at Denver.  Send three copies of your manuscript (one copy with identification, and two without it) to:  UCD Department of Sociology, Technical Report Series, Campus Box 105, P.O. Box 173364, Denver, Colorado, 80217-3364.  You may also drop it off in the Department of Sociology, which is located in The Lawrence Street Center, 1380 Lawrence Street, Suite 420.  Please contact the Editorial Office at 303-556-2780 or one of the individual editors listed below, for further information on submission procedures, format requirements, comments or questions.
