This course uses a new approach to presenting materials to students. You will be able to see all of the handouts for the class on our department Web Server. In order to read these pages you will need access to a computer that is connected to the Internet and that has Web Browser installed (e.g., Netscape or Internet Explorer). You are invited to make any comments directly to the department (send these to the Department Chair: Candan Duran-Aydintug (cduranaydint@castle.cudenver.edu) or to Richard H. Anderson (randerso@carbon.cudenver.edu)) who developed these materials for the course.
These course materials are continually being revised. The Fall 2000 semester is the nineth that I have used WWW browsers as the way to present the material. You have a great deal of responsibility for making the course work. I will need your help to improve the course and its appearance. You should send any suggestions to me by E-mail (randerso@carbon.cudenver.edu).
As you look at the dates in the topical outline schedule you will note that the course begins with a great deal of reading almost immediately. The amount of material covered by the first 3 topics is fairly heavy. This will require you to keep current with the material. Note also that once we reach the mid-term period the reading and the work slack off. If you keep up with the reading and assignments you will make it through the course with little difficulty. It is particularly important that you keep me informed of your progress throughout the semester, because we will not have the usual face-to-face contact characteristic of the classroom.
