Unit 4: In the previous unit you were introduced to the idea that our core is based in the social system. In this unit we examine the process by which we develop the sense of self and of our place in the social unit. The interpretations of Piaget, Cooley and Mead are presented and discussed. We conclude the unit with an examination of the ideas of Erving Goffman and his construction of privacy.
