Hello, and welcome to our site devoted entirely to the Three Gorges Dam. The Three Gorges Dam will be the world’s largest dam upon completion and is located along the Yangtze River in China. The Yangtze is the world’s third largest river behind the Amazon and the Nile.

On this site we’ve broken the project down into four basic categories, the technical aspects, the organizational issues, the cultural impacts and the basic geography surrounding the project. We go through some of the history of the project as well as what the social and economic effects of it will be. We look at the people being affected by its creation and some of the debates that surround the project.

This site was created for a class studying the relationships between culture and technology. It was created by a group of students at the University of Colorado at Denver.
