Aswan Dams






Satellite of NileAs we near the millennium our world is full of technology and its practices; for the most part we do not know the implications of how the next technological paradigm will affect our immediate life let alone the future. In ENGR 3400 we studied such paradigms past and present. We also studied how these paradigms and the technology it brings have affected a culture and their land.

Lake Nasser TodayOne such technology and the topic of this webpage is the two Aswan Dams situated on Nile in Egypt. We focused our topic on the Geography of the land and the dams’ affect on it, the Technology aspect of how the dams were built and used. Our topic also covers the Organization of how and why the Dams came to be a necessity and the obstacles Egypt had to over come to build these man-made wonders. Lastly we delve into what affects the Nile River had on the Culture before and after the construction of each dam.
