Travel is a hobby...

I thought I would be an artist, but in college I got off the track and ended up in science. I have had many shows (watercolor, oil, landscape) over the years, and I hope for more time for painting in the future.

I have developed an interest in transportation systems; I flew small planes for 10 years (had to give it up for the cost and because it is not the safest hobby; but I am still interested in aviation).

My older boy and I have gotten into trains (Amtrak, steam and toy). I am trying to finish Athern's history of the DRGW railroad. We enjoy day trips to the Rail museum in Golden, or the Georgetown loop.

Wines tasting has been a lot of fun! This interest started when I was a student at Stanford's Marine Station (Hopkins) and free tasting was nearby.
Skiing is another interest that I hope to return to as the kids get older. Meanwhile, golf is always challenging and it has been fun to enter state tournaments.
Mystery novels, science for the layman, and history books (west, railroad history) take up most of my reading time.
