Cleavage
Starting about 1 hour and 20 minutes after sperm addition, the first cleavage furrow begins. Note that it begins as an indentation, then the furrow spreads to the sides of the cell. A ring of microfilaments is responsible. Click here for the 1.6 MB Shockwave video.
