WebQuest Training

T-Spider.Net site map

There are two training components for WebQuest. It is important that both components are completed before trying to create your own WebQuest. These should be done in the following order:

On the Cutting Edge

On the Cutting Edge
The first training component involves actually doing a WebQuest. This training is primarily for the group of students who are working on the project, but if the teacher wants to join the group for this training, that is perfectly acceptable. This WebQuest works best if there are four people involved, but it can be done with three to eight people.
If you did the scanning activity when you first started considering WebQuest, you got a chance to briefly look at some WebQuests. Actually doing a WebQuest will help you better understand the various parts of any WebQuest.

Students: doing this WebQuest may have the added benefit of improving your web site design skills.

Again, this activity is to be done as a team, so be sure you communicate with everyone involved before you start this training. Email may be your easiest method of communication, so be sure to share email addresses with each other.
If you think you're ready to start this training, click the "On the Cutting Edge" button at the left.

World of WebQuest

World of WebQuest
Now that you've actually done a WebQuest, you should have a better idea of the "concept" of WebQuest. You might be having second thoughts now about whether or not the idea you had in mind for a class activity is suitable for WebQuest. Don't worry! WebQuests are special activities--not every lesson plan can be (or, in fact, should be) implemented using WebQuest.

If you are having second thoughts, take a look at some other kinds of §Internet activities developed by Tom March. You may just discover one of these other activities is a better fit for what you had in mind. Or, maybe you need to adjust your learning goals if you're certain you want to use the WebQuest concept. You'll learn how to do this later in the planning stages.
But, if you're certain at this time that WebQuest is for you, then it's time for the second training component. This next training activity must be completed by everyone involved--the group of students and the teacher working together. This training should take about four hours to complete, though the team doesn't have to be together the whole time to finish the training. Click on the "World of WebQuest" button at the left to start this training.
