Judith A. Coe |

is Assistant Professor
of Music and Director of the Commercial Voice program in the Music &
Entertainment Industry Studies Department at the University of Colorado
at Denver, where she teaches applied voice and improvisation, pop
songwriting, women in contemporary music, Irish music and directs the
singer/songwriter ensemble, and her
Cyberspace Music Resources
site has won international awards. An eclectic singer/songwriter,
composer, and keyboardist/synthesist, Coe specializes in classical, pop
and jazz, and music of our time which utilizes extended vocal techniques
and technology. She has performed, composed, taught, and recorded in
traditional classical, avant, and commercial genres, and has performed
and given scholarly presentations and world premiere performances
throughout North America, Western and Central Europe, the British Isles,
and in the Caribbean. Coe
will be on a jazz tour in the Czech Republic and Poland next Spring and
is working on three new projects - a "Place as Identity" sonic and
visual exploration, an Afro-Celt crossover concert, and a multimedia
collaboration for digital art and light, dancers, DJ, and rock/hip hop
nonet. |

Paul
Musso |
| is a full-time
instructor and Director of the Guitar program at the University of
Colorado at Denver. He has been with CU-Denver for twelve years teaching fretboard theory and commercial guitar styles, various ensembles and
applied guitar studies. Mr. Musso is a freelance guitarist and has
performed throughout the Colorado area in many diverse musical settings
including The Colorado Symphony, The Boulder Festival Orchestra, The
Aspen Music Festival and The Westcliff Jazz Festival. Paul is the author
of two Mel Bay books for jazz guitar -
Fingerstyle Jazz Guitar/Teaching Your Guitar to
Walk and
Graded Fingerstyle Jazz Guitar Solos. He has also contributed to the publication
Fingerstyle Guitar. Paul currently lives in Denver where he maintains a
career playing guitar in straight-ahead jazz and solo guitar settings.
His most recent publication is a contribution to Mel Bay's 2000 Jazz
Guitar , where Paul shares the bill with greats like Johnny Smith,
John Abercrombie, Buckey Pizzarelli, George Van Eps, Andy Summers and
many others. Paul teaches fingerboard melody/harmony, applied jazz
guitar, theory and the styles ensemble. |

Drew
Merrell |
has
been a professional jazz musician and educator in the Denver area for
the last 17 years. Drew was hired into the teaching staff of the Baldwin
Piano Co. at age 18 where he began his career as an educator and
eventually was made head of the department. After 8 years on staff Drew
opened his own music studio: Infinity Music. Drew is a working pianist,
bassist, and guitarist, and has performed with The Nelson Riddle
Orchestra, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Red Holloway, Javon Jackson, Mark Elff,
L.A. vocalist Sherry Williams, Lew Tobaccin, Nelson Rangel, Jimmy Heath,
Dakota Staton, and The Neophonic Jazz Orchestra. Drew currently enjoys
working as the "house" bassist at the nationally renowned jazz club, El
Chapultapec. Drew has also been very active as a studio musician,
recording on both bass and piano. Drew directs the signature jazz combo
and teaches applied jazz guitar.

Pete Ellingson
is a part-time instructor in the Music & Entertainment Industry Studies
Department the University of Colorado at Denver. He received a Master of
Music in Percussion Performance from Arizona State University (2000) and
a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University
(1999). He teaches applied jazz piano, aural skills and music
appreciation at CU-Denver and freelances as both a percussionist and a
pianist, and is skilled in traditional and contemporary jazz styles and
as an accomplished improviser. He specializes in Latin percussion and
Cuban musical styles, playing techniques and repertoire, and has
published both jazz piano and drum set fundamentals instructional texts. |

Mike Marlier,
Professor of Drum Set Studies and Jazz and Commercial Music in the Lamont
School of Music at the University of Denver, has been playing drums since he
the age of five. He has taught privately for 18 years. Mr. Marlier has
performed and recorded with a number of professional artists including the
GRP All-Stars, Mose Allison, Julian Lennon, Dave Valentin, Los Lobos,
Images, Steve Haun, and Wake Up Call. His drumming can be heard on a host of
local and national radio and television commercials. Offering a diverse and
well-rounded approach to the drum set, he strives to share his knowledge
with his students. Composer and keyboardist Dave Grusin calls Mr. Marlier
"Denver's answer to all the superstar drummers. This guy is a great player."
