Assignments and Projects

Assignment 1: Due September 5, 2000
Requirements: 1-8.5" X 11" sheet of paper with a graphic that includes the assigned readings in Brandt (to date), the first slide show, the movie Hamlet, and portions of either the Pepsi Center or the North Classroom building.

Assignment 2:  Due September 19, 2000
Requirements:  Imagine Jack Kerouac, William S. Burrows, or Alan Ginsberg at some location on West 13th (between Lincoln Park and Rudy Park), and superimpose that image onto your assignment #1 (it is okay to alter assignment #1).

Assignment 3:  Due October 17, 2000
Requirements:  Make a plan of the movie "Boys Don't Cry", either the entire movie or a segment of the movie.  The plan must have seven segments .  This plan should show a trace of your previous work and serve as a plan for your intervention.

Assignment 4:  Due October 31, 2000
Requirements:  Spend 24 hours (at different times of the day and night) at  the site where you will perform your intervention.  If your site is not along West 13th, you need to state your reasons for choosing an alternate site.  You will be required to turn in a site plan of your site.

Mid-term Assignment:  Due November 21st
Requirements:  Turn in 2 - 8.5" X 14" sheets.  The first sheet will document (images or a  combination of text and images) your intervention.  The second sheet will support the intervention (tell about the "plan", past work that led to the intervention, etc.)

Final Assignment:  Due December 12th
Requirements:  Turn in 4 - 8.5" X 14" sheets.  Two sheets will document (images or a  combination of text and images) your intervention.  Two sheets will support the intervention (tell about the "plan", past work that led to the intervention, etc.).  It is suggested that your final project build on the mid-term project, but not required.  You may use images from your mid-term project, but the four required sheets must be unique in some way.
