Course Description:
In the coming decades biomass will play an important role in providing renewable alternatives to fossil fuels. This is a graduate/senior level course that will cover the fundamental theories and applied technologies used in production and conversion of biomass into bioenergy and other value-added products. Conversion technologies covered include ethanol fermentation, biodiesel catalysis, anaerobic digestion, microbial fuel cells, biohydrogen production, etc..
Recommended: previous coursework in chemistry and microbiology.
