Co-authoring a paper: If we are co-authoring a manuscript/report or preparing a proposal together, please review the following material and incorporate this material into drafts.
Reference letters: If you are seeking a reference letter from me for a job, fellowship or admittance into a program, I am happy to help. My ability to prepare such a letter, however, assumes we have had at least two different types of interactions (i.e., you were a student in a class I taught, a research assistant, a teaching assistant, or you have attended office hours more than once or twice). In order for me to assist you, I ideally require four things:
(1) a current copy of your resume as well as a copy of your application materials to the program/job in question, (2) program description materials (job ad?), (3) two paragraphs prepared by you (though written from my perspective) saying how great you would be for the position and how our interactions are evidence of such, and (4) all of the above material two weeks in advance of the deadline (however, 72 hours will do IF I am in town and either you are willing to pay the FedEx charges or the organization will accept electronic submissions). Thanks for understanding.
