Let Search Engines Find Your Page

Register Your Site!

Here is a quick job aid for those who want to "publish" their work on the WWW.

Add meta tags

Where appropriate, add information specifically intended for search engines. At the top of your page add metatags for keywords, a description, and author. These are entirely optional and will not appear in the text of your document. The keywords should include any words that specifically pertain to your document, but which may not actually be included in your text. For example, if Dr. Suess were posting his "Lorax", he might include the following metatags:
<META name="Keywords" content="ecology, manufacturing ethics, social responsibility">
<META name="Description" content="The Once-ler tells the story of how the Lorax tried to warn him about the harmful effects of his greed.">
<META name="Author" content="Dr. Seuss">
