Music Theory Placement Test
This online test is designed to place students in the appropriate music theory class. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

1. To login to the test you will need to enter your name, student ID, email address, and the semester that you plan to enroll in the appropriate class (these will be kept confidential and only used to process the placement test)

2. You can only login to the online test once. Even if you login and do not complete the test, the system will not let you login again.

3. You will have 20 minutes to complete the test. If you don't submit the test within the 20 minute time-frame, the test will be automatically submitted for you.

4. After submitting the test, your test score and class placement will be displayed. Your score needs to be at least 60% to enter Music Theory I. A score less than 60% places you into Beginning Musicianship. If you have taken a college level Music Theory I class in the past and you believe that you should be placed in Music Theory II, please contact Bill Clark at william.clark@cudenver.edu. Important Note: This placement test does not enroll you into any class. It simply tells you into which class you should register.

5. Anyone may choose to take a written version of the placement test instead of the online version for the fall and spring semesters (not for summer). For those students who do not pass the online test, you can have one more chance to pass the test by taking the written version. If you wish to take a written version, please contact Bill Clark at william.clark@cudenver.edu for information.
