YUMPs stands for Young
Upwardly Mobile Professors.
This acronym is used to distinguish those professors at the University of Colorado
at Denver who are on the tenure track, but are untenured.
The University of Colorado at Denver has a special faculty development program
for YUMPs, which is run through the Center
for Faculty Development.
As a Center Faculty Fellow, I
(1) organize workshops and provide information pertinent
to understanding the tenure process,
(2) distribute small grants that help advance YUMPs
toward a successful tenure decision by enhancing their scholarship or teaching
activities, and
(3) work with individual YUMPs who have special problems
or concerns in terms of their tenure process.
