The checklist below must be completed before the draft is handed
in. Your grade will be affected by successful completion of these tasks. If you are not
completely sure what each instruction means, check with your local teacher.
You must get everything correct.
- Run spellcheck on your draft.
- Make sure the draft conforms to Enigma
format specs:
- New York font, size 10 for all text other than title and author
byline;
- New York font, size 12 for author byline;
- Author byline centered (using the format tools, NOT
the tab or spacebar); no upper case "B" in "by"; no commas
or other punctuation;
- Title in any font of author's choosing, size 24, centered
(without use of tab or spacebar), in bold, no underlining; first letter of all words
(except conjunctions, articles, and prepositions) capitalized;
- Paragraphs begin with a single tab of .5 inches (the default
setting);
- An open line between the end of one paragraph and the
beginning of the next one;
- Two spaces after every sentence;
- Two spaces after every colon;
- Margins justified (use the format tools);
- No spaces between the inside of parentheses/quotation marks
and text;
- This way -- (word); "word"
- NOT this way -- ( word ); " word "
Suggest at least three blurbs for the article.
Type them at the bottom of the article.
(Make sure the blurbs use the exact wording of the article text. Ellipses
[three dots] may be used to reduce the size of the blurb.)
Suggest at least three graphics to accompany the article. Type a description of them at the bottom of the article.
Save the article to the Enigma Files, in your folder for this
quarter. Label your file by Topic/Author/Date.
- Example of correct label: Cover Sheet/Stevan/1.31.97
- Example of incorrect label: I dunno/Me/2001
Save the current draft of the article on your
own disk (labeled by topic/author/date). If you don't have a disk, get
one.
